OneOcean Port Vell, Spain
Sector: Luxury Marine (including Marina Acquisition & Management)
Region: Barcelona, Spain
Year: 2010-2017
In 2010, Salamanca Group acquired Barcelona’s Marina Port Vell, and over the course of six years, the Group has managed a US$100million+ transformation delivering one of the preeminent superyacht destinations in the Mediterranean. The marina’s new configuration accommodates 158 yachts up to 190metres and includes two newly built state-of-the-art buildings on site; the Gallery, a facilities building dedicated to the needs of guests, captains and crew, and the OneOcean Club, a private members’ club containing a restaurant and bar. In mid-2015, the award-winning marina was rebranded to fall under OneOcean. OneOcean Port Vell continues to build its reputation as a world-class superyacht destination and in 2016 it was chosen as the host marina for the largest charter show in the Mediterranean, MYBA, for 2017-2020. In 2017, after successfully delivering the vision, the Group completed a full sale of the asset.
To deliver the project, the Group drew on multiple facets of its diverse expertise, including:
The Real Estate team provided pre-acquisition technical due diligence services, budget design and project management.
The Corporate Advisory team assisted the Group in securing additional financing for development of the marina and supported the sale of the asset.
In addition to our work at OneOcean Port Vell, we helped initiate the Barcelona Nautical Cluster to reactivate the city’s marine sector and generate significant economic impact. This involves working with local partners including: Barcelona City Council, Port 2000, Marina Barcelona ’92 (MB’92), Pinmar and the Fundació Barcelona Navegació Oceànica.
