Salamanca Group and its subsidiary business, Salamanca Risk Management (“S-RM”) announce today the successful completion of a management buyout of S-RM. The newly-independent firm will be called S-RM and is led by Heyrick Bond Gunning, supported by Jamie Smith (Head of Business Intelligence), Rob Harford (Head of Risk Consulting) and Martin Devenish (Board Director).
Founded in 2005, S-RM is an intelligence-led, risk consulting business that helps clients understand the risks to their business and identify and implement the most effective means of mitigation. S-RM has 75 employees across offices in London, Geneva, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai, Tripoli, Karachi and Accra.
Commenting on the completion, Martin Bellamy, Chairman and CEO of Salamanca Group said: “The Board of Directors were firmly of the view that independence for S-RM, which a management-led buyout provides, was the right outcome for the business and its clients and congratulates Heyrick and his team on concluding this transaction.”
The S-RM management team are all reinvesting in the business as part of this transaction, alongside a selection of private and corporate clients, including XL Catlin, as minority investors. All see an opportunity to take advantage of the growing demand for global intelligence and risk consulting services.
Heyrick Bond Gunning, CEO of S-RM said: “Our focus is to continue the momentum that S-RM has achieved over the past few years as part of Salamanca Group, and build on that success to capture the numerous growth opportunities in both the global intelligence and risk consulting markets. We believe that taking direct ownership of the business optimally positions us for the next stage of our development.”
Advisers on the transaction were Ropes & Gray LLP for Salamanca Group and Pinsent Masons for S-RM.
